The City of Evanston’s annual firewood sale will begin on Saturday, November 7.

Hours are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays at 2310 Oakton St. (between the Recycling Center and the Animal Shelter).

Prices have increased slightly from  last year. The cost is $25 per 1/8 face cord; $40 per 1/4 face cord; $70 per 1/2 face cord or $125 per full face cord. Payment by personal check is preferred, although payment can also be made by cash. Credit cards are not accepted, and delivery is not available. The sale continues until supplies are exhausted. For more information, call 847.866-2912.

Free woodchips are available at the base of the hill in adjacent James Park, accessible by the drive at 300 Dodge Ave (at Mulford). Residents are welcome to take as much of the woodchips as they like.

Forestry Division staff cares for Evanston's "urban forest." Duties include tree planting, maintenance and removal. Each summer, a crew drives down every street in Evanston, visually inspecting elm trees for signs of disease.

Following a wind storm, Forestry crews clear trees or tree limbs from public areas. They also assist other divisions plowing snow from the streets following a major snow storm.
