Pooch Park photo by Lauren BergmanPooch Park is a 2.7 acre park that is an off-leash fenced dog recreational facility. It is jointly operated by the City ofEvanston and Skokie Park District.

 

There is a separate “agility” area and separate puppy/small dog area. Drinking fountains for both people and dogs are provided.

 

Location: 3220 Oakton St. (Channelside Park), Skokie

 

Park hours
5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily

Oakton Community Center, 4701 Oakton St., Skokie
Devonshire Cultural Center, 4400 Greenwood, Skokie
Weber Leisure Center, 9300 Weber Park Place, Skokie

(effective May 1, 2008)
The fee for an Evanston/Skokie household is $40 for the first dog and $10 for each additional dog; the nonresident fee will be $80 for the first dog and $15 for each additional dog.

 

Parking
Parking is available in the lot for the Dammrich Rowing Center, which is just south of Pooch Park. The lot entrance is on Oakton St. From the parking lot, walk north past the Rowing Center to the Pooch Park entrance.

 

"Woofstock"

This annual celebration of all things canine is held in June. There usually are dog acts, demonstrations, music, food, exhibits and family/dog activities and contests. Dogs must be on leash during the event. Free admission. Stay tuned for the 2009 date.
