Get Green, Go Green, Save Green

The City, Chamber of Commerce and Citizens for a Greener Evanston sponsored an interesting event this morning at the Civic Center to bring attention to ComEd's Smart Ideas for Your Business program which helps fund energy saving business improvements.  The statewide program in ComEd's territory is in its second year.  While much of the funding goes to lighting improvements, there are funds for other energy saving improvements.  The program has $16 million to give away this cycle and much of it is already committed.

Fortunately for businesses in Evanston, the City is part of ComEd's Community Energy Challenge where 10 cities in Illinois have been selected to participate.  This means that $350,000 of energy improvement money is set aside just for Evanston businesses to access.  See more info on both programs in links above.
