Newsy Items on the September 29th City Council Agenda

Posted by Wally Bobkiewicz on Sep 24, 2009 at 8:23 PM

The City Council meets one day later next week on Tuesday September 29 because of Yom Kippur.  Newsy agenda items:

1.  Discussion of proposed FY 2010/11 budget planning strategy.  Both the Mayor and I are proposing new approaches for budget planning.  The Mayor plans to appoint a 10 member citizen committee.  I am proposing a five day budget planning process for November.

2.  Consideration of expanding the City's employee benefit program to include health insurance for same sex domestic partners.

3.  Beginning of proceedings to end the "Downtown II" TIF.  TIF stands for Tax Increment Financing and is the mechanism used for redevelopment in Illinois.  This TIF district helped make the redevelopment of Downtown Evanston possible.

4.  Consideration of what is hoped to be the final version of the City's Green Building Ordinance.

The agenda for the meeting can be found here (PDF) and the full meeting agenda packet here (PDF).

Topics: Budget, City Council, Green, TIF
