Public Works Department Reorganization
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Suzette Robinson as Director of Public Works. Suzette was selected as part of a nationwide search of public works professionals who applied for the position. Suzette has done an outstanding job as Interim Department Director while continuing her service as Superintendent of Streets and Sanitation. Earth Hour in Evanston
The City of Evanston is joining communities throughout the world in observing Earth Hour tomorrow night, Saturday March 27. We will be turning off lights at all City facilities from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM and we encourage all residents to join us. Video above does great job illustrating the event.…

Google Day Great Success
Google Day in Evanston was a great success. Community members from every part of Evanston took part in encouraging residents to register their support for the effort on the Google website. Aldermen Attend Washington Conference

City Welcomes Shani Davis on March 18
The City will be hosting a ceremony to welcome home Olympic Speed Skating Gold Medalist Shani Davis on Thursday March 18 at the Robert Crown Center. The City of Evanston's website has won a 2010 "Sunny Award." The Sunny Award is presented by the Editors of Sunshine Review to honor the most transparent government websites in America. These websites have scored an "A" transparency grade on Sunshine Review's Transparency Checklist.
