Evanston Day in Springfield

Posted by Wally Bobkiewicz on Apr 5, 2010 at 9:41 PM

The City of Evanston and Northwestern University will host Evanston Day in Springfield on Thursday April 29, 2010. This will be an opportunity for Evanston civic leaders and residents to come to Springfield to have our voices heard on issues of importance to Evanston. NU President Morton Schapiro will host an end of day reception for legislative leaders and the Evanston delegation.

The City will be renting a bus to take the delegation to Springfield. It will leave Evanston around 8 AM and arrive in Springfield in time for lunch at the Governor’s Mansion arranged by State Senator Jeff Schoenberg. There will be meetings with legislative leaders in the afternoon, followed by the reception. The group will then head back to Evanston.

The media and members of the public are welcome to join on the bus for the trip to Springfield. The cost will be $60 per person and includes the bus trip and lunch. To reserve a space on the bus and/or for more information, contact the City Manager’s Office at 847-866-2936 or email at citymanagersoffice@cityofevanston.org.

Copying what I wrote on the Facebook page: Thank you everyone who put this incredible opportunity together and opened it to the public. I learned volumes in that one day, not just about state government, but also about Evanston itself.
