Posted by Wally Bobkiewicz on May 17, 2010 at 5:58 PM in General Announcements

From Evanston Police Department:

"On Friday May 14th the Evanston Police Department traffic bureau in conjunction with the national “Click it or Ticket” seatbelt enforcement campaign, conducted the first of three planned enforcement actions.

In further efforts to educate and safe guard the driving public, Evanston police officers will be enforcing an array driving violations, with the goal being to make Evanston streets safer for operators of motor vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians.

On May 14th 2010, traffic officers conducted enforcement actions at several locations throughout Evanston. These combined operations resulted in 36 seatbelt citations, 21 driver cell phone violations, 1 child safety seat restraint violation, 4 insurance violations and 1 violation for no driver license.

With the approaching Memorial Day holiday weekend the Evanston police department would like to remind drivers to buckle their seatbelts, use a hands free communication device when driving and always arrange for designated driver."
