ComEd Power Outages

Posted by Wally Bobkiewicz on Jun 19, 2010 at 10:18 AM in General Announcements

Yesterday's storms caused havoc with power throughout the region.  According to ComEd, approximately 500,000 customers were impacted.  As of 8:30 AM, 904 Evanston customers were still out of service.  ComEd is telling customers that it will likely take days to restore power everywhere.  There is no timeframe for restoration of power to remaining customers in Evanston.

I have been without power since 8:00 PM yesterday, Tuesday the 21st of June. I have called ComEd and they cannot give me an etimated time by which power will be restored. They will not tell me what happened or what actions are being taken to resolve the issue. Why?

Any information would be useful. I live right by the hospital so why is the power still out on that grid?

If there is only 904 customers without power why is it going to take days to restore?

ComEd's support and customer service are abysmal. They are "not able to say" when power will be restored and "dont have any further information". Brilliant insight after a long time of being on hold.

Living without power is difficult. It is made more so when ComEd posts that your address will have power Monday at 7:45 pm all Monday afternoon, but you don't get power. Instead you get up Tuesday and they say it will be restored Tuesday at 7:45 pm. Now I am told it will be restored at noon on the 15th. To whom is ComEd accountable for their mishandling of this? What can we do to register our anger?
