Newsy Items on Monday City Council Agenda

The City Council starts its Summer Break after Monday's meeting, so the agenda is full of interesting items.  The next City Council meeting is on Monday September 13.  All links are PDF documents.

1.  Downtown Evanston will be making a presentation on plans to begin a process to renovate the Varsity Theater.

2.  The Council will be asked to consider proposed CIP projects for 2011 for water main replacement and street resurfacing.

3.  Starting at this meeting, the City Council will also review all credit card purchases by the City in addition to checks that are written.

4.  Consider contract for upgrades to the City's 911 communications system.

5.  Consider submitting Federal grant for infrastructure improvements on Church Street and Dodge Streets under the TIGER II program.

6.  Consider ordinance regulating mobile food vendors.

7.  Consider ordinance amending laws on keeping of animals (such as chickens) in residential areas.

8.  Consider funding to assist in business promotion on Howard Street.

9.  Consider new franchise agreement with Commonwealth Edison.

In addition to these items, the City Council's Administration and Public Works Committee will review staff's proposed plans to adjust funding for the City's Sewer and Water system as of January 1, 2011.
