Special City Council Meeting Monday / Goals and Budget Issues

Posted by Wally Bobkiewicz on Sep 20, 2010 at 7:20 AM in Administrative Services

The City Council will be meeting to set goals for 2011, review mid-year budget report and hear a preview of the FY 2011 budget process. The meeting begins at 6 PM in the Council Chambers.

The documents for the meeting can be found here (PDF).

The list of 2010 Council goals are pretty broad, but the Council will receive report on their implementation and will be asked if items should be changed, added or deleted.

The report on the mid-year budget is good.  In the General Fund, revenues are at 47.9% of budget (not including money owed to us by the State of Illinois) with expenditures at 45.9%.  We anticipate ending the year even.

The Council will also discuss various issues associated with the FY 2011 budget, including a review of budget policies, debt policies, etc.  The presentation will include projected deficit numbers for FY 2011 (not as bad as last year, but still not great) and my recommendations for budget management for the remainder of the year.
