Day of Caring and Wheel Barrels

Posted by Wally Bobkiewicz on Oct 18, 2010 at 12:39 PM in Events

Saturday was the North Shore United Way's "Day of Caring.". I was assigned to work at the Evanston Infant Welfare Society's Child Care Center. When I arrived I was assigned to help move wood chips from the front of the building to the rear. There was unfortunately no good way to do this, so I volunteered to go to Home Depot to get a wheel barrel.

I purchased the wheel barrel and took it to my car. I soon realized that the wheel barrel would not fit in my car. While pondering what to do, I heard a voice behind me, "Do you need some help?". There was a man in a mini van who offered to help. We put the wheel barrel in his mini van and headed back to the child care center.

Once we arrived, I thanked the man and asked his name - John. And he drove off.

A great day of caring about Evanston.
