Christmas Morning Fire - 1807, 1809, 1811 Laurel

Posted by Wally Bobkiewicz on Dec 25, 2010 at 7:38 AM in General Announcements

Evanston Fire Department was called to a structure fire at 1800 hundred block of Laurel around 5 AM this morning. The fire impacted all homes and rear garages at 1807, 1809, 1811 Laurel. No one was home at any of the houses and it is unclear if any of the houses were vacant. One EFD Firefighter was taken to the hospital with trouble breathing. He is in good condition. Fire units from all over area responded to assist at scene and cover firehouses as many EPD units were at scene. Cause of the fire unknown at this time. The fire scene is being cleared as of 7:30 AM.

Evanston's firefighters and police officers are among the best in the nation. This is demonstrated at no better time than a situation like this. While many of us are spending Christmas morning with friends and family, our firefighters and police officers are on duty to take care of business. Their focus and professionalism at these situations help make Evanston the safe and special community it is.
