Thoughts on Housing Occupancy Issues
A good part of last week was spent on reports of City enforcement strategies of housing rental occupancy laws in Evanston. The City issued a release that goes over the specifics. It was a frustrating series of events. Many renters in Evanston are students at Northwestern University. Special City Council Meeting Monday / 311 and Mass Notification
The City Council will be meeting Monday at 7 PM to discuss and approve two new policies to help us roll out two new City services. New Art Space at Civic Center Opens Friday: Gallery 4502
The City of Evanston, in partnership with the Evanston Art Center, is opening a new public art gallery at the Civic Center. Gallery 4502 will open with its first show "The Grounded Gaze: Escape Through Landscape - An Exhibition of Landscape Inspired Paintings by Evanston Artists" with a reception on Friday January 28 at 5 PM at the gallery located on the 4th Floor of the Lorraine H. Outdoor Ice Skating Rinks In Good Shape
Parks, Recreation and Community Services Director Doug Gaynor tells me that the City's three outdoor ice rinks at Ackerman Park, Baker Park and Dawes Park Lagoon are in good shape for skating and temperatures should allow good skating through the end of January. Snow Route Parking Ban in Effect
The City is declaring a snow route parking ban for tonight. No parking in snow routes from 11 PM to 6 AM. More details and map for snow routes. We have had little over three and a half inches snow today. Not enough to declare snow emergency. We are expecting more snow later tonight starting around 8 PM. Unclear on accumulation. Stay tuned.…
Evanston Vehicle Sticker Update
The deadline to purchase 2011 City of Evanston vehicle permits is Monday January 10, 2011. The City is offering extended hours to purchase the permits tomorrow, Saturday January 8, from 9 AM to 1 PM on the first floor of the Civic Center. The Civic Center will also be open on Monday January 10 until 7:30 PM to purchase permits. A penalty of 50% of the fee will be added to all applications received/postmarked after January 10, 2011.
