City Launches New Transparency Website

Posted by Wally Bobkiewicz on Jan 12, 2011 at 6:42 PM in General Announcements

The City of Evanston strives to promote transparency in all operations. By providing as much data as possible through our website, residents can be better informed about what is going on in their city.

Transparency promotes accountability and openness and it is our hope that by being transparent we can help improve our effectiveness and the efficiency of city operations. The launch of our new Transparency site exhibits our commitment as a city to our residents to do just that. On this site the public will have access to the most up to date information, consistent with law and policy, about operations, finances and decisions.

There are several sections on the site which grants access to:

• Active, awarded and cancelled bids and proposals are accessible via DemandStar.

• City bill payment lists and credit card transactions

• All reports, documents, & videos relating to the budget and the budget process.

• Listings of the City's on-going contracts as well as information related to the term, cost and administrator of the contract

• Department reports

• Executive Session minutes as they are approved by the City of Evanston’s Law Department (as outlined in the Illinois Open Meetings Act)

• Freedom of Information Act request information

• Employee Pension information

• Salary information: i.e. employee titles, pay grades, and pay rates

• Tax information

The City encourages the public to submit feedback so we can better identify which information is of greatest use.
