Newsy Items on Tuesday City Council Agenda

Posted by Wally Bobkiewicz on Apr 10, 2011 at 10:37 AM in General Announcements

The City Council meets once a year on a Tuesday for a regular meeting when the Township of Evanston holds its annual meeting.  I talked last year about the Township in the Blog.  The Township meeting will start around 7:30 PM after the regular meetings of the Council's Administration and Public Works and Planning and Development committees.

After the Township meeting and before the City Council meeting, the City Council will recognize the Evanston Kiwanis Club and the Rotary Club of Evanston  Both clubs are celebrating 90 years of continuing service to the community.

Other items of interest at the City Council meeting:

1.  Update on the City Council's community safety goal.

2. Staff is proposing to pool our natural gas purchasing with Northwestern. It will save a fair amount of money each year. We have also discussed electric purchasing and the market doesn’t allow for much discount in increased scale of purchasing.

3. Staff is returning to Council with sponsorship and advertising policy and fleshed out RFP (with photo renderings) for advertising pilot.
