Office of Emergency Preparedness

 

This program provides the large scale emergency planning and coordination for the City.


Areas of responsibility include:

  • Emergency Plan currency
  • Round-the-clock emergency response in time of crisis
  • Quarterly reports to the State
  • Exercises in lieu of actual occurrences
  • Ongoing maintenance of accreditation required for Federal reimbursement of funds
  • Training for CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) members
  • Support for MRC (Medical Reserve Corps), in cooperation with the Department of Health and Human Services
  • Maintain and coordinate information for Evanston Radio AM 1650 WPXZ-497.

* Tornado sirens are tested on the first Tuesday of every month at 10 a.m.
