2008 VEHICLE LICENSE STICKER
City of Evanston Ordinance 10-8 (see the City Code) requires all vehicles registered to an Evanston address to pay an annual wheel tax and properly display a valid City vehicle sticker. Every resident, business, firm or corporation must purchase a vehicle sticker for each vehicle registered with the Secretary of State, State of Illinois, to an address within the corporate limits of the City of Evanston.

Vehicle stickers expire every year. 2008 Stickers must be purchased & displayed by January 11, 2008. A penalty of 50% of the fee will be added to all applications received /postmarked after January 11. (A passenger car vehicle sticker will cost $90 rather than $60.)
If your plates are registered on or after July 1st, 2008 you will pay only 50% of the applicable fee when applying for a vehicle sticker. ($30 rather than $60.)

The sticker must be displayed on the lower left-hand corner of the windshield. (Driver's side.) To avoid misplacing or losing the sticker, apply to your windshield when received. Weather does not affect this type of sticker.
Penalty
The penalty for not obtaining or displaying a vehicle sticker is $50 plus a $20 additional penalty if not paid within 10 days.
Extended hours
The Collector's Office is open Monday - Friday from 8:30am to 5pm. The office will be open extended hours for sticker purchases: Saturdays, Nov. 10 and Dec. 8, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Both the Collector’s Office and Parking System are open on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and till 7 p.m. on the evenings of Monday through Thursday, Jan. 7-10, 2008.
Senior Citizen Discount
Seniors ages 65 and older and fulfilling income requirements are eligible for a 50% discount on their vehicle stickers by obtaining a Senior Citizen Discount Card. Seniors can apply for the Senior Citizen Discount Card and purchase their stickers on the following dates: Saturdays, Nov. 10, Dec. 8, 2007, and Jan. 5, 2008, from 9am to 1pm in Room 2402 of the Civic Center.
These seniors must have filed their 2006 income taxes returns either singly with an income of $30,000 or under, or jointly with an income of $50,000 or under. Seniors applying for the Discount Card must bring their 2006 tax returns on these dates for income verification. Seniors who obtained discount cards in previous years may use them to purchase their 2008 stickers. Questions regarding this discount should be directed to the Evanston Commission on Aging at 847.866.2919.
Transferring a Sticker
If you replace a car at any time during the year, a transfer of your City Vehicle License sticker must be made by application to the City Collector, located on the first floor of 2100 Ridge Ave. Stickers are not transferable from one person to another. There is a fee of $8.00 to do a transfer. Original receipt or sticker must be presented for a transfer.
