Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center is the oldest community center in Evanston, opening in 1956. Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center provides many services to the community. The center provides seniors with meals during the day, has indoor facilities to accommodate activities such as karate, and an outdoor playground. Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center provides extensive after-school and summer camp programs for children. For information on Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre, please see the Theatre page.
Middle School Council News
New members are encouraged to attend the combined Middle School Council of Fleetwood-Jourdain Center and Mason Park Fieldhouse. The Council meets every Monday and Wednesday at 5:15 p.m. at Fleetwood-Jourdain Center.
The members of the Middle School Council were busy during the 2008-09 school year!
They traveled to Iowa to canvass for Barack Obama and met Senator Dick Durbin. In addition to conducting a voter education program, they held a bake sale as well as food and clothing drives to raise money to build care packages for soldiers overseas.
Spring activities include raising funds for hungry youth; a fashion show/tea to celebrate Mother’s Day; a trip to the Museum of Science and Industry; fitness and wellness education and participation in a national art contest!
