Arrest in Bomb Threat made to Evanston Township High School

10/25/05 - The Evanston Police Department announced today an arrest in the October 18th bomb threat made to Evanston Township High School, 1600 Dodge Ave., Ev., IL. The Evanston Police Department investigation into this incident determined that a 15 year old male, who is a sophomore at Evanston Township High School, was responsible for telephoning the Evanston Police Department’s 911 Center on October 18th and reporting a bomb would go off at the high school.

The youth made the call to the police department from a cell phone which was stolen from another high school student’s locker. With the assistance of telephone service providers, the investigators were able to secure telephone usage records on the telephone which were made prior to the service being stopped by the telephone owner. By contacting the people that were called the investigators were able to subsequently identify the juvenile offender.

A two count delinquency petition alleging Burglary and Disorderly Conduct will be filed in the interest of the juvenile, in the Juvenile Court of Cook County.

The Evanston Police Department wishes to thank Evanston Township School District #202 and the administrators and staff of Evanston Township High School for their cooperation both during the actual incident and the investigation that followed.
