Project Name 2009 BLOCK CURB, SIDEWALK, AND ADA CURB RAMP REPLACEMENT PROGRAM
2009 BLOCK CURB, SIDEWALK, AND ADA CURB RAMP REPLACEMENT PROGRAM P roject Newsletter
The 2009 Block Curb Program provides for the replacement of deteriorated sections
of curbs, sidewalks, and curb ramps by annual construction contracts. The funding
for these improvements is from GO Bond Funds & CDBG (Community Development
Block Grant) Funds. There is no direct charge to abutting property owners. The
map on the back of this Newsletter illustrates the specific locations which have been
included as a part of this contract.
Construction will begin the week of August 24 and is expected to be fully
completed by the middle of September. Preliminary saw cutting and tree root
pruning will begin the end of the week of August 17. The actual date when
construction is planned for your street can be noted on the temporary “NO PARKING”
signs that will be posted 48 hours prior to the start of work.
The construction sequence includes replacing the existing curb & sidewalk followed
by parkway restoration as required. The construction activities will create some
inconvenience for abutting residents, but we will attempt to minimize these
problems. The day time sweeping parking restrictions shall be waived for a block
surrounding the project limits. The streets will be open for evening and nighttime
parking.
IRRIGATION/SPRINKLER HEAD IDENTIFICATION
The sprinkler system installed underground in the public right-of-way should be identified and
marked by a flag by the property owner prior to excavation to prevent damages to the sprinkler
system.
CONTRACTOR
The contractor for this street improvement is Schroeder & Schroeder Inc., 7306 Central Park Avenue,
