Conversation in the Park: Poetry and Puppets

October is Illinois Arts & Humanities Month, a statewide celebration encouraging all Illinoisans to establish, deepen and expand our relationships with the arts and humanities. In recognition of Arts & Humanities Month, the City of Evanston is sponsoring “Conversation in the Park: Poetry and Puppets” at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 2. The event will take place at the “Conversations: Here and Now” sculpture in the northwest corner of Raymond Park, located at Chicago Avenue at Grove St., Evanston.
The event will feature Literature for All of Us teen poets Najolie Wright, Jerusalem Singleton and Elsie Jones; a reading by Evanston poet Carole Hayes; a poetry reading by renowned puppeteer Amber Marsh, whose puppets will interact with the sculpture; and award-winning poet Alice George, who will interact with the audience and perform riffs on Pablo Neruda's “Book of Questions.”
