brain.jpegHow do culture and the brain shape each other? Can culture change the human brain as we develop? Professor Joan Chiao – Dept. of Psychology, Northwestern University, will talk about comparing individualist and group-oriented societies across the globe and how it might be culture, not just genes, that drives evolutionary and developmental outcomes.

Friday, November 18, 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm, The Loft, Main Library, 1703 Orrington Ave.

Joan has researched the evolution of humanity operating on at least two different levels of the brain. One is the well understood biological level, the other cultural. Open to all students in grades 6 -12, their parents, grandparents, and teachers. Free admission! Snacks provided.

Jr. Science Cafe is sponsored by Northwestern's Vice President of Information Technology, Northwestern's Vice President for Research, and the Northwestern University Chapter 22 of Sigma Xi.
