CTA Public Meeting
Evanston Public Library, 1703 Orrington Ave, Evanston, IL at 5:00 PM until 7:30 PM
When downloading a calendar item for use with Outlook, version 2007 or newer is required.
The purpose of this meeting is to:
• Present updates to the ongoing Environmental Impact Statement process
• Provide additional information to the public about the project
• Solicit feedback from the community about the project
What is the RPM project?
It stretches along the existing Red and Purple lines from Belmont station to the Linden terminal. The RPM project would help bring the existing transit line into a state of good repair, reduce travel times, improve access to job markets and destinations, and provide improved access to people with disabilities. A number of alternatives are under consideration for the RPM project, including the comprehensive reconstruction of track, stations, and structures along the line. CTA is now preparing a Tier 1 Draft Environmental Impact Statement to evaluate environmental impacts of the project. This update meeting is a continuation of public outreach efforts that began in 2010 to keep the community informed and involved in the RPM project. This project is one part of CTA’s larger initiative to extend and enhance the entire Red Line.
Do you require assistance?
If you require an interpreter, including sign language services, or other accommodations at this update meeting, contact Jeff Wilson, CTA Government and Community Relations Officer, at least five days prior to the update meeting at (312) 681-2712 or jwilson@transitchicago.com.
As part of the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Environmental Impact Statement process, CTA will be holding another meeting on the North Red and Purple Modernization Project at 5 pm on February 6, 2012 at the Evanston Public Library (details are in the attached flyer here: CTA_Meeting_Flyer.pdf). Most of the information presented on the North Red/Purple Line will be the same as presented back in 2011, but CTA will present information on the ongoing Viaducts Project and Station Renewal Initiative in Evanston. It will follow their normal format of having posters presented around the room with CTA staff present to discuss each phase of the project; with no formal presentation to all attendees.
