The City of Evanston will be hosting the Mexican Consulate from May 10 to May 12, 2012 for its “Mobile Consulate.” Mexican nationals with the required documents will be able to obtain or renew their matriculate card or Mexican passport by appointment only.
The city recognizes that many of its residents lack a form of identification thus preventing them from receiving important city services. The city has accepted the Mexican consulate’s matricula card as proof of identity since 2004.
Having a form of identification is a basic necessity for all members of the community. By facilitating the Mexican Consulate in issuing identification documents, the city hopes to foster a relationship with the community and invite them to engage with their local government and other residents by learning and participating in city programs and community-wide events.
The City of Evanston will be hosting the Mexican “Mobile” Consulate on Thursday, May 10 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Friday, May 11 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, May 12 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. To make an appointment please call MEXITEL (1-877-639-4835).
