'Kits and 'Cats Week

'Kits and 'Cats Week

Evanston students of all ages (Grade K through graduate school) and families are invited to celebrate the back to school season with various events the week of September 15-20, 2014. In previous years, these activities were known as "Paint Evanston Purple" events.

What's going on during 'Kits and 'Cats Week? A few fire hydrants will sport a new purple paint job in Downtown Evanston, NU student athletes will visit some elementary schools, there will be a big Block party on Thursday, September 18 and the week culminates with Evanston Day at Ryan Field.

The Kick-Off will be Thursday, September 18 from 5:00 to 8:30 pm. The Kick-Off's special guests include Mayor Tisdahl and other City of Evanston dignitaries, Coach Pat Fitzgerald and some of his players, ETHS head football coach and captains, and the ETHS and NU Marching Bands. A live band (to be announced and brought to you by Downtown Evanston) will follow the pep rally-type activities. There will be live music and selected businesses will offer promotions to those wearing purple. So come and celebrate!

Evanston’s many ETHS alumni will also be able to purchase Boosters spirit wear that evening. A live band performance will begin at about 6:45 p.m.

On Saturday, September 20 at 2:30 pm, Northwestern University and the City of Evanston are teaming up to host Evanston Day at Ryan Field as the NU Wildcats take on the Western Illinois Bulldogs.

Discounted tickets will be available for Evanston residents, so please help us fill the stadium with a sea of purple and come out to cheer for the Wildcats!
