'Kits, 'Cats and Kids Block Party
Evanston residents of all ages are invited to celebrate the back to school season at the 'Kits, 'Cats and Kids Block Party!
The 2016 Block Party is scheduled for Thursday, September 15 from 4:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This year the party moves a block north and expands a block west to make room for more fun! It will take place on Sherman Avenue between Church and Clark Streets and on Clark Street between Sherman and Benson Avenues.
There will be games, arts and crafts, family-friendly activities filling the street, live music (including Beatles cover band Kaleidoscope Eyes), the ETHS Marching Band and NU Marching Band, rousing pep rally-style speeches, and lots of dining options.
Be sure to come hungry and dine at one of Downtown Evanston's great restaurants or stop by the wide variety of food trucks serving savory and sweet fare. Food trucks scheduled to be on site are: Chicago Cupcake, La Cocinta, Beaver Donuts, BabyCakes, Krave, and Amanecer Tacos. The first 200 hot dogs will be free, thanks to sponsorship from First Bank & Trust.
Discounted football tickets will be sold at the Block Party to help fill Ryan Field stadium with a sea of purple for the Big10 prime time game at 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 17. That evening, the Northwestern University Wildcats will play the Duke Blue Devils. Discounted tickets can also be purchased at NUSPORTS.com with the code PURPLE through Friday, September 16.
The ETHS football game that weekend will be a home game against Barrington High School on Lazier Field at Memorial Stadium. Kickoff for the varsity game is 7:30 p.m. on Friday, September 16.
