Street Cleaning Schedules

Video Transcript

Parking in Evanston can be challenging.

No parking Tuesdays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

No Parking Mondays, 1 to 8 a.m.

No parking Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The City posted these general signs on streets with parking on both sides to make community members aware that street cleaning occurs on specific days of the week annually between April 1 and Nov. 30. Play it safe and read the signs.

But what these signs don’t tell you are the exact dates the streets are cleaned. The City can’t possibly clean this street every Wednesday or clean this side of the street every Monday or every Tuesday.  We simply don’t have the manpower or the equipment!

Here’s a little known fact: Did you know the City publishes street cleaning schedules annually to advertise the exact calendar dates that you can’t park on the streets? You can play it safe and follow the signs. Or you can follow the schedule to make parking in Evanston a bit more convenient. Street cleaning schedules are available on the city’s web site, www.cityofevanston.org, or by calling the City’s Division of Streets and Sanitation, (847) 866-2940.

There’s a schedule for streets with parking on both sides, a schedule for streets with parking on one side, and a schedule for crowded streets that are specially posted.

Take some advice from me, for street parking in Evanston, the schedule is the way to go.
