The City Clerk attends all City Council meetings and produces the official minutes of all City sponsored meetings. All ordinances and resolutions are processed through this office and kept as permanent records in the muncipal library. The municipal code is updated throughout the year by ordinances that amend the code. The Clerk is the custodian of books, records, and papers of both the City of Evanston and Evanston Township. The City Clerk is the only full-time elected official.
All petitions and communications addressed to the City Council are received by the Clerk and communicated by the Clerk at Council meetings. The Clerk also issues notices of regular and special meetings of the City Council and of Evanston Township.
Those interested in obtaining information from the City Clerk's office may request it by filling out a Freedom of Information Act form available in the office or it can be mailed on request.
Selected State of Illinois Forms are available at the Clerk's office. These inlcude: Firearms applications, Corrected Title application for Vehicle Title, Application for replacement plates, and Application for Vehicle Title & Register.
NOTICES:
The City Clerk's office no longer sells fishing or hunting licenses. 2007 Illinois Fishing Information booklets are available in the Clerk's office. Here are other locations where the licenses may be purchased.
The City Clerk's office no longer processes U.S. Passport applications. You can apply for a passport at the Evanston Post Office.
