Nicor Rebates for Home & Business

Nicor recently launched several new programs for residents and businesses to help make energy efficiency upgrades more affordable. Residential Rebate Program Residential customers are eligible for rebates of up to $400 on high-efficiency water heaters, furnaces and boilers purchased between May 1, 2010 and May 31, 2011. These products are also eligible for federal tax credits if the purchases are made in 2010. Community Alert - Juvenile female attacked by male adult offender

On 5-18-10, at approximately 7:45 a.m. a juvenile female was walking to school in the 1100 Blk. of Clark St., Evanston, Illinois, when she was accosted from behind. According to the victim the offender grabbed her and then dragged her into some nearby bushes. Once concealed in the shrubbery, the offender attempted to remove the victim’s pants. Women Out Walking in 7th Week

The Evanston Health Department’s Women Out Walking (WOW) program is in its 7th (of 12) week of operation. Thus far the 1100 or so women involved in the program have walked over 113 million steps, participated in two group walks, attended one workshop (which focused on heart health and had fitness class samplers – tai chi, cardio boxing, boot camp, and line dancing) and are set to have their first healthy cooking class this weekend. Family Campfires with a Nature Theme Starts May 21

Join the Ecology Center staff for fun-filled evenings for anyone age 2 and up. The campfires will include stories, songs and, of course, the ever-popular s’mores!
