On Earth Day 2010, the City of Evanston launched a new campaign to promote residential energy efficiency - the Evanston Porch Light Campaign. The campaign encourages residents to "light the way" by changing their porch light from a regular incandescent light to an energy efficient compact fluorescent light bulb (CFL), demonstrating simple actions can make a difference, one porch at a time. The City Clerk's office no longer sells fishing or hunting licenses. Fishing & Hunting Licenses may be purchased directly from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources at this toll-free number 1-800 705-4164. Nicor recently launched several new programs for residents and businesses to help make energy efficiency upgrades more affordable. Residential Rebate Program Residential customers are eligible for rebates of up to $400 on high-efficiency water heaters, furnaces and boilers purchased between May 1, 2010 and May 31, 2011. These products are also eligible for federal tax credits if the purchases are made in 2010.
