Ethnic Arts Festival - July 17 & 18

Celebrate the diversity of our planet! Come experience the colors, sounds, tastes and aromas of distant continents and other cultures by taking a two-day trip “around the world” at Dawes Park.

The 25th annual Evanston Ethnic Arts Festival will transform this shady, serene lakefront park into a colorful, exciting global village. The lagoon and fountains will be surrounded by the flags of over 100 nations; 125 artist vendors representing the heritage and traditions from countries around the world will showcase their wares. Unusual art activities and storytelling will be featured; don’t miss it!

Many of the best ethnic entertainers from the metropolitan Chicago area and beyond will perform on two stages. Groups scheduled to perform on the Central Stage include: Miyumi Project, Red Baraat, Los Vicios de Papa, D-Lux Mizik, Grupo Rebolu, D-Lux Mizik, Grupo Rebolu, AnDro, and Kenge Kenge. There also will be a mini Pow-Wow by members of the Chippewa, Menomine, Lakota, Cherokee, and other tribes. Family stage entertainment will include Escola de Samba (student performance), S.O.U.L. Creations, Tricia Sebastian, Those Funny Little People, Corazon Boliviana, Il Kwa Nori, Escola de Samba, Mazurka Wojciechowska, West Indian Folk Dance Company and Von Orthal Puppets.
