Evanston Lakeshore Arts Festival - August 7 & 8

Posted on Saturday Jun 05, 2010

High-quality artwork is the main focus at this very popular summer festival, but you’re sure to also enjoy the live musical entertainment, beautiful shady setting, cool lake breezes, and various art-related activities.

The 125 juried regional and national artists selected to be part of this year’s event will be staffing their booths, so you’ll have a chance to meet them and discuss their artwork. These talented artists met the jury’s very high standards in the following categories: photography, jewelry, painting, wood, ceramics, glass, prints/drawings, sculpture, fiber, watercolor, and mixed media. Come browse and buy original pieces that were created by the artists themselves, not produced by a machine on an assembly line!

The festival will be held at Dawes Park, Sheridan Rd. at Church St. from 11am to 6pm on Saturday, August 7 and Sunday, August 8. Be sure to place a bid or two at the silent art auction each day, and visit the popular Children’s Craft Tent, which will keep children and grandchildren in high spirits.

When you get hungry or thirsty, stop by the food booths on the festival grounds operated by a dozen local restaurateurs. They will be offering a variety of refreshing menu items.

Jazz, folk and classical music performed on the lagoon stage complements the festival atmosphere. A complete schedule will be available at the festival and on the Web site listed at right.

Our free shuttle bus will take you from free parking at the N.U. parking lot three blocks north of the festival (signs are posted) and back again. Or, enjoy the stroll between the lot and festival on the Centennial Park walking path.
