Evanston Children's Theatre Auditions to Be Held Sept. 7-9
The Evanston Children’s Theatre will hold auditions September 7-9 for its fall production of The Phantom Tollbooth, written by Norton
Juster.
The Phantom Tollbooth is a children's adventure novel and a modern fairy tale. It tells the story of a bored young boy named Milo who unexpectedly receives a magic tollbooth one afternoon and, having nothing better to do, drives through in his toy car. The tollbooth transports him to a fantasy land called the Kingdom of Wisdom. There he acquires two faithful companions, has many adventures, and goes on a quest to rescue the princesses of the kingdom, Princess Rhyme and Princess Reason.
Auditions are open to children age 8 years through eighth grade. For your convenience, three auditions will be held from 4:00 through 6:00 p.m. over three days: Tuesday, September 7 through Thursday, September 9 at the Levy Center, 300 Dodge Ave, Evanston. This production with have two casts in order to accommodate more children.
Auditions are free. No appointments are necessary; just arrive no later than 5:45 pm. For youth cast in the play, there is a cast fee of $75. The Phantom Tollbooth will be presented Friday through Sunday, November 12-14. For more information, please call 847/448-8294.
The Evanston Children’s Theatre program serves as a training ground for Evanston youth. Senior adults age 55+ also are cast in some shows. All performances are held at the Levy Center, 300 Dodge Avenue.
