Fire Captain Dwight Hohl promoted to Division Chief
Evanston Fire Chief Greg Klaiber announces the promotion of Fire Captain Dwight Hohl to Division Chief of Life-Safety Services effective October 15, 2010. Klaiber stated “Division Chief Hohl will be a welcome addition to our command staff. Through the course of his career with Evanston Fire and Life Safety Services, Chief Hohl has proven his dedication and commitment to our Department and the citizens of Evanston.”
Division Chief Hohl will fill the vacancy left when Klaiber was promoted to Chief this year; his duties will include responsibility for managing the Department’s Emergency Medical Services and Special Team Operations including water rescue, HazMat and Technical Rescue.
Chief Hohl joined the Department 18 years ago (in 1992) as a firefighter/paramedic. In 2007, Hohl was promoted to Fire Captain/Paramedic. In addition to his fire suppression duties as a Captain, he was the shift EMS Coordinator and member of the water rescue dive team. Hohl worked in areas of mentoring and training, records keeping and a member of the policy and procedures committee. Recently Hohl was instrumental in the newly deployed electronic patient care reporting system and has worked closely with the St. Francis EMS system to educate paramedics. Hohl has a degree in Science from Belize Technical College in Belize City, C.A.
In 2009, Evanston Fire & Life-Safety Services ran 8,566 calls for service of which 5,355 were for Emergency Medical Services. “Division Chief Hohl will demand that Evanston Fire and Life Safety Services continue to provide our community with the highest level EMS service possible”, Klaiber stated.
