Winners of the Fifth Annual Paint Evanston Plows Contest Announced

Posted on Monday Nov 22, 2010

City of Evanston’s Fifth Annual Paint Evanston Plows Contest were announced at the Administration and Public Works1-large.jpg Committee Meeting on November 22.

The City of Evanston Streets and Sanitation Division invited all public and private schools in Evanston to paint murals on the blades of its snow plows for its annual Painting Evanston's Plows (P.E.P) contest. A few of the City's snow plows will be looking particularly festive in preparation for the coming winter season, thanks to some teachers and students in seven schools in Evanston. The Division dropped off a plow blade and paint kit at each school and encouraged the classes to show school spirit, city spirit, holiday spirit or winter spirit.

Mayor Tisdahl presented the different winners with plaques: one in the “Evanstonian Choice” category, one in the “Best Theme” category and two in the “Mayor’s Choice” category. This year there were four different winners. In addition, the City presented framed certificates to the schools not selected and individual certificates of appreciation to each student that participated.

Winners:

Evanstonian Choice Award (received the most votes online and by phone) - Lincolnwood Elementary
Best Theme Award (theme was “Be Alert Accident’s Hurt” and selected by Streets and Sanitation employees) - Chute Middle School
Mayor’s Choice Award (this year the Mayor selected two plows) - Kingsley Elementary and Nichols Middle School
