Holiday Light Recycling Continues
Holiday light recycling will continue until Monday, January 31st. Last year 12 villages participated in this program and were able to recycle 9,949 lbs of holiday lights! The following are the sites and drop-off hours:
City of Evanston - Ecology Center, 2024 McCormick Boulevard
Monday - Friday: 8:30 am to 5:00 pm and Saturday: 9:00 am - 4:30 pm

Energy Saving Tips of the Week
Turn off your desktop computer and monitor for two additional hours per day to cut your annual electricity use by 1.5 percent.
Unplug your “phantom load” by unplugging unused appliances, electronics and chargers. This small step can save up to 5-6 percent on your annual electricity use.
When replacing or installing appliances, look for the ENERGY STAR label. Replacing an old refrigerator with a new unit could save you up to 7 percent on your annual electricity use.
