Evanston Police Investigate Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident
On 2-24-11, at approximately 6:14 a.m. Evanston police responded to the area of Oakton St. and Callan Ave. Evanston, Illinois referencing a motor vehicle accident. Preliminary investigation indicates that the driver was traveling east bound on Oakton St. and failed to negotiate the north bound turn. The driver then struck the railroad embankment at a speed estimated to be higher then the posted speed limit for that section of the road.
It was determined at the scene of the accident that the driver, a forty-seven year old male from Skokie, Illinois was deceased due to the injuries he sustained as a result of the crash. At this time the driver’s identity is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
The investigation is currently being conducted by the Evanston Police Department and the North Regional Major Crime Task Forces – Major Crash Assistance Team. The investigation will be pending Cook County Medical Examiners results.
