The City of Evanston will install its first solar powered Pay and Display Parking Meter to serve as an on-street pilot program in the 600 block of Clark (south side of street). The City of Evanston’s Neighborhood Stabilization Program 2 (NSP2), funded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA), was designed to help stabilize neighborhoods that have been hardest hit by the effects of foreclosed and abandoned properties. Evanston Designated Tree City USA Friday, April 30 is Arbor Day in Illinois. In conjunction with Arbor Day, the City of Evanston is proud to announce that for the 27th consecutive year, the National Arbor Day Foundation has designated Evanston as a Tree City USA community. On Tuesday, April 12, high above Evanston, residents were able to witness the removal of two 13,000 lb. cooling units at the Evanston Public Library and their replacement with two 9,800 lb. energy-efficient units.
