Scarecrow Bee - Help a Farmer, Scare a Crow! At the Farmers' Market May 28

scarecrow.jpgOn Saturday, May 28, Friends of Evanston Farmers Markets is hosting a Scarecrow Bee (like a quilting bee, except we’re making scarecrows). Local families are invited to come and help us make these crop-saving effigies for the farmers who bring us their wonderful fresh fruit and produce. Bring some old clothes and join in the fun!

  • WHEN: 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Sat., May 28
  • WHERE: Evanston’s Downtown Farmers Market, north of the Maple St. parking garage, behind the Hilton Garden Inn. (Garage parking is FREE for market patrons). We will be set up at the Friend’s Tent, near the SW corner of the parking lot near the railroad tracks.
  • WHAT TO BRING: Any old, raggedy grown-up clothes, including long sleeved shirts, pants, cloth work gloves, straw hats, large buttons, hemp rope and cotton neck scarves. (Donated items will be accepted May 28 at the Friend’s Tent).
  • WHO: this is a fun project for all ages – bring the kids and pitch in! A drawing will be held from the names of all the food-producing farmers to award the scarecrows.
