City's Action Alert on State Budget Successful

Posted on Thursday Jun 02, 2011

Il Flag.jpgWith phone calls and emails from residents, the City of Evanston in partnership with other communities around the state were able to convince the General Assembly to not cut or reduce the Local Government Distributive Fund (LGDF).

The General Assembly adjourned May 31st with an intense last day of major issues being debated, but the LGDF has been left in place with no reductions. As indicated in earlier emails, if the General Assembly had cut or eliminated the Local Government Distributive Fund as part the final State Budget Implementation Bill it would have created a significant funding gap of almost $2 million in the city budget this year.

The State budget has been sent to Governor Quinn along with the FY2012 Budget Implementation Act. This is a major victory for the City of Evanston and Illinois residents’ who fought diligently to preserve their portion of the income tax!

Email or call State Senator Schoenberg, Representatives Gabel and Biss today, and thank for their leadership and opposition to reductions in the Local Government Distributive Fund.  Click here to send them an e-mail>>>
