Evanston Property Tax Comparisons with Other Area Communities
The City of Evanston's Administrative Services Department has released a comparison of property taxes paid by eight other area communities. The tax years examined were 2008 and 2009; Evanston ranked the fifth lowest in 2008 and the fourth lowest in 2009.
Many of the communities have separate Parks, Library and Fire Districts unlike Evanston in which all of these are services provided by the city and included in one property tax. These districts in the other communities were included in the tabulation in order to give a fair representation of where each of these communities stands.
