Water Main & Street Work to Begin June 20 on Dodge Ave., Ashland Ave. and Lee St.
Over the next ten weeks the City of Evanston will be contracting out water main replacement and roadway work on the three street sections listed below. This project includes the replacement of the existing deteriorated water main with new ductile iron pipe as well as replacement of the existing water services. The street resurfacing portion of the project involves curb replacement, roadway base repair, along with selected sidewalk replacement and driveway aprons.
As part of the project, Dodge Avenue and Ashland Avenue will be resurfaced from curb to curb. On Lee Street the water main trench will be patched. The water main work and street resurfacing are part of the city’s continuous program to renovate and improve the water distribution system and roadways throughout the community. The funding for the water main portion of the project will be from the City’s Water Fund and funding for road work is from the GO Bond Fund. There will be no direct charge to the property owners.
The map located here>>> illustrates the specific locations which have been included as a part of this project and in the following sequence of construction:
1. Dodge Avenue from Dempster Street to Lake Street
2. Ashland Avenue from Main Street to Lee Street
3. Lee Street from Ashland Avenue to Asbury Avenue
Construction will begin the week of June 20th on Dodge Avenue with the entire project expected to be fully completed by mid August. The actual date when construction is planned for each street will be noted on the temporary NO PARKING signs posted 48 hours prior to the start of work. There will be “No Parking Any Time” on Dodge Avenue during construction. The construction activities will create some inconvenience for the abutting residents, but we will attempt to minimize these problems. The street sweeping and/or neighborhood parking restrictions will be waived for a one block radius of the construction zone.
Any sprinkler system should be identified and marked with a flag by the property owner prior to the start of construction to prevent damages to the sprinkler system.
The contractor for this street improvement program is A. Lamp Concrete Contractors, Inc., located at 800 W. Irving Park Road in Schaumburg, IL 60193.
