Noyes Gallery Exhibition Opens July 14

12_Gilchrist.jpgThe exhibition New Encaustic Explorations, presented by members of the FUSEDChicago, runs from July 14 through August 30 at the Noyes Art Gallery located in the Noyes Cultural Arts Center.  An opening Artist Reception will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 17 at the Noyes Cultural Arts Center, 927 Noyes St. Admission is free.

FusedChicago is a growing group of Midwest artists brought together by their passion for encaustic. Explorations with luminescent layers of wax, either alone or in combination with other mediums, can bring meaning, richness and depth to the artist’s creative process. The work of FusedChicago artists have taken them in many directions as they extend the boundaries of the ancient art of encaustic. The exhibit is curated by Barbara Goldsmith and Chie Curley.

Participating artists are Dan Addington, Alicia Forestall-Boehm, Donna Zarbin Byrne, Denise Funfsinn, Shelley Gilchrist, Ken Gold, Nikkole Huss, Katsy Johnson, Catherine Keebler, Patricia Lagger Jenny Learner, Barbette Loevy, Elyse Martin, Jane Michalski, Bridgette Guerzon Mills, April Nomellini, Mary Jo O’Hearn, VA de Pintor, Yvonne Prisble, Sarah Rehmer, Paul Renaldi, Julia Ris, Leslie Robertson, Emily Rutledge, Mary Krebs Smyth, Michele Thrane,Karen Trichy, and Kathleen Waterloo.

The Gallery occupies both the first and second floors of the Noyes Cultural Arts Center. Admission is always free. Regular gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. The building is accessible and group tours are available.
