2012 Vehicle Sticker Sales Begin Oct. 3

2012 sticker final -5.jpgVehicle stickers and residential parking permits for the 2012 year will go on sale starting Monday, October 3, 2011 and must purchased by December 16, 2011 and be displayed by January 5, 2012. Applications will be mailed to residents the last week of September. Residents are highly encouraged to mail in their applications and payment early.

City of Evanston Code 10-8-1 requires all vehicles registered to an Evanston address to pay an annual wheel tax and properly display a valid city vehicle sticker. The cost for a regular passenger car vehicle sticker is $75. For rates on other vehicle types, call 3-1-1 or visit the city’s website at www.cityofevanston.org/sticker.

A penalty of 50% of the fee may be added to all applications received /postmarked after December 16, 2011. (A passenger car vehicle sticker will cost $113 rather than $75).

Vehicle Sticker Purchase In Person

If a resident is purchasing a vehicle sticker plus a residential parking permit (combo sticker), they must either purchase them via mail or in person at the City Collector’s Office in the first floor of the Lorraine H. Morton Civic Center located at 2100 Ridge Ave. If a resident is purchasing a vehicle sticker in person, please have your State of Illinois vehicle registration with you. For residents who did not receive an application in the mail or the information is not current/correct, they can print off an application from the city’s website or pick one up in person at the City Collector’s Office.

Where and when can I purchase my Vehicle Sticker?

For residents who are just purchasing a vehicle sticker and the application that was mailed to you is correct, you can purchase your sticker online for FREE at www.cityofevanston.org/sticker, at the Morton Civic Center, at the Levy Senior Center located at 300 Dodge Ave., the Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center located at 1655 Foster St. or at local Currency Exchanges. When purchasing vehicle stickers in person, please have with you your State of Illinois vehicle registration.

The City Collector’s Office will have extended hours for the following dates:
• Mondays, 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., October 10, 17, 24, and 31; November 7, 14, 21 and 28; and December 5 and 12.
• Wednesdays, 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., October 12, 19 and 26; November 2, 9, 16 and 30; and December 7 and 14.
• Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., November 19; and December 3 and 10.

Additionally, residents who are purchasing just a vehicle sticker with the application that was mailed to them can purchase their stickers at the Levy Senior Center located at 300 Dodge Ave. or at the Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center located at 1655 Foster St. Expanded sales hours and these two City of Evanston centers are daily, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the renewal season. If a resident is purchasing a vehicle sticker in person, please have your State of Illinois vehicle registration with you. 

Residents who are purchasing just a vehicle sticker with their correct preprinted forms that were mailed to them can also purchase their vehicle stickers at any Evanston Currency Exchange. Residents must have with them their State of Illinois vehicle registration.

Discounts for Seniors- Evanston Benefit Card

Seniors, 65 and older, fulfilling income requirements, are eligible for a 50% discount on one vehicle sticker per household by obtaining an Evanston Benefit Card Senior Discount Card. If a resident applied for and received a discount card last year, it will NOT be valid this year. Seniors that do not have a current Evanston Benefit Card may apply for one at the Levy Senior Center.
