Eco Corner: Free Evanston Bike Map to be Given out on Car Free Day
The City of Evanston is excited to announce the development of a new Evanston Bicycle Map that will be given out to the first 500 people who stop by the Car Free Day Pit Stop at 909 Davis on September 22nd. The maps will be available on a first come, first served basis at the event Thursday morning between 6:00 and 9:00 am.
In addition to bicycle routes, this map will also show bicycle racks located in recreational and business districts across Evanston. The bicycle rack locations were collected over the past few months thanks to the efforts of the Evanston Public Works Department, Office of Sustainability and volunteers from Northwestern University. All of this information will be contained in a convenient, foldable map that is easy to carry while riding your bike.
Following Car-Free Day, this map will be available online in electronic format, giving residents and visitors the opportunity to view the map at any time. The collection of bicycle rack locations is being conducted on an on-going basis and updated versions of the map will be posted on the City of Evanston website.
The City of Evanston hopes that these maps will help support bicycle riders by making trip planning easier while also directing bicycle riders to the numerous bicycle racks located throughout the city.
Want to get more involved? Help support Car Free Day by volunteering to help at the Pit Stop at 909 Davis on September 22nd . Visit Volunteer Evanston to learn more about this volunteer opportunity.
