Car Free Switcher Promo Final.jpgCar-Free Day is coming Thursday, September 22nd and now is a great time to plan how you can get involved! In recognition of Car-Free Day, the City of Evanston, CTA, Metra, Pace, and the RTA are partnering with the Active Transportation Alliance (ATA) to help promote all the various ways to get around without using a car.

The whole Evanston community is invited to take the Car-Free Pledge found at www.activetrans.org/carfree. Even if you cannot make the event or already commute without a car every day, take the pledge today to show your commitment to greener forms of transportation. By taking the pledge, you become eligible to win a $100 gift card from REI as well as one of five copies of the book, Carless in Chicago all while confirming that you plan on making the world a cleaner place on September 22.

In addition to the pledge, all residents and commuters are invited to stop by the Evanston Car-Free Pit Stop event at the 909 Davis Building in between the Davis Metra and CTA stops from 6-9 a.m. on Thursday, September 22nd. The Pit Stop will include free goodies, information about car-free commuting, instruction on bicycle specific stretching and bicycle maintenance and commuting advice by local vendors.
