Let's Move! is a campaign to combat the problem of childhood obesity within a generation, so that children born today will grow up leading healthier lives. Over the past 20 years, obesity rates have tripled for children in suburban Cook County. As an official Let's Move! city, Evanston is doing its part to combat these obesity statistics.
The Let's Move! campaign, launched by First Lady Michelle Obama , works to combat the epidemic of childhood obesity through a comprehensive approach that builds on effective strategies, and mobilizes public and private sector resources. Let's Move! engages every sector impacting the health of children to achieve the national goal, and provides schools, families and communities simple tools to help kids be more active, eat better, and get healthy.
The Let's Move! video, featuring about 100 Evanston youth, was shot this July and was modeled after the "Move Your Body" music video, featuring Beyonce, to support the Let's Move initiative.
