Residents are encouraged to take extra steps in preventing these types of crimes by locking your doors and windows when not home or asleep. Trim shrubs & bushes back which will allow for a clear view of window entrances. Use motion detection lights near doorways and overhead garage doors at night. Alert neighbors when you’re out of town and have someone collect your mail and newspaper daily. Also, if gone for an extended period of time, have a friend or neighbor put your garbage and recycling out for pick-up.

In addition, lock your bicycle with a quality lock and cable. Do not leave items such as purses, cell phones & laptop computers unattended for any time period at all. The most common thefts of purses and electronic items occur during grocery shopping or while at a coffee shop.

A high volume of reported burglaries and thefts occur without any forced entry at all. Doors and windows are often left unlocked allowing easy access for criminals to take your belongings in a short period of time. Please take the extra step in securing your property.
