The Evanston Police Department’s Traffic Management Bureau, in conjunction with the Illinois Department of Transportation’s Division of Traffic Safety (IDOT/DTS), conducted another highly successful holiday safe driving campaign.

Between November 14 and the 27, 2011, IDOT/DTS sponsored enforcement, to remind motorists to buckle up and to not drive impaired. The Evanston Police Department conducted enforcement actions both day and night, during the merged Click It or Ticket/Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over mobilization. The Evanston Police Department joined other state and local law enforcement agencies to reduce highway fatalities by cracking down on unbuckled motorists and impaired drivers.

During the mobilization, The Evanston Police Department issued:
• 40 safety belt citations
• 3 DUI arrests
• 2 felony arrests
• 4 suspended/revoked licenses
• 9 uninsured motorists
• 12 speeding citations
