Evanston Honors Veterans at Fountain Square
Veterans Day ceremonies were held November 11, 2011 at Evanston's Foutain Square honoring those who have served this country.
In keeping with the time-honored traditions of past ceremonies, there was non-denominational reflections; remarks from elected officials that included Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl, State Representative Robyn Gabel and Cook County Commissioner Lary Suffredin along with a representative from Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky's office; and the leaders of local veterans groups.
The Navy ROTC conducted a rifle salute after “Taps” and in representation of their veteran members, the Evanston Police Color Guard participated in the ceremony.
